＜Summer vacation/ はじめに＞
Hello, everyone!!
Reunion with your family and friends, travel and events… I hope you have enjoyed your summer days in 2023. I know ”you need vacation after vacation” (to get some rest. Lol)
We held our delightful meeting on Aug.12th.
こんにちは！お盆休みはエンジョイされましたか？夏イベントや懐かしい人との再会、旅行と楽しい季節。
猛暑と遊びに、たまった疲れも確かにある！バケーションのあとに休養用の休暇が必要だったりしませんか？笑
さあ！前回のミーティングをレポートします♪

“Sound of Music” is one of the most favorite movies of today’s host, TMOD AD.
She empowered us with this beautiful song, “Climb every mountain” to follow our passion and asked us about our dreams and/or memories related to mountains.
今回の司会は AD さん。
大好きな映画からミーティングテーマを引いてくるとは、なんて素敵なんでしょう！
永遠の名作映画「Sound of Music」のサウンドトラックがスマホから流れ始めました。
夢と希望を抱き、困難があっても乗り越え進むことを後押ししてくれる人生の賛歌。
歌詞にちなんで会員に促します。
「あなたの夢を話して。もしくは山についてのエピソードを」
笑顔溢れる例会の始まりです。
<Table Topics Session / 即興スピーチ>
At the Table Topics Session, we develop our impromptu speech skills.
Table Topics Master was ™.WT. She gave us questions based on “Mountains”.
Speakers shared their unforgettable memories and creative thinking with the audience.
It was so great to describe one’s challenge as climbing Mt.Everest.
即興スピーチの司会はWTさん。
ミーティングテーマの「山」にちなんで、
「山に登る目的や醍醐味は？」
「エベレストに登りたい？」
「行くなら海？山？」
「あなたにとって山のレジェンド(伝説や偉人）とは？」
と問いかけ、回答者はその場で思い出を語り、今取り組んでいることを登山になぞらえて創造的なスピーチを披露しました。
<Prepared Speech Session/ 準備スピーチ>
① CAさん「English in Demandー必要とされる英語」
There are many options to learn English even if you stay in your own home country.
™.CA has welcomed many international/ exchange students at her home.
One of the students was “Loo”, a 17-year-old boy from Laos.
Her kids loved Loo and learned a lot from him, having many experiences, different cultural backgrounds and values. Their English improved significantly. ™.CA says that Loo is her “another son”. They became a chosen family, related with affection.
英語を学ぶにはどのような方法があるだろう。バイリンガルになりたい、子供をバイリンガルにしたい！そう思う人は少なくない。留学や海外旅行はもちろんのこと、自国内にいても生きた英語を学ぶ方法がある！CAさんが日本国内で子育てをしながら試みたものとは。
海外からの留学生を受け入れるということ！１７歳のラオス出身の男の子「ルー君」のホストファミリーとなったことで、ＣＡさんの子供たちは年上の彼の経験や異なる文化や価値観にふれて、素晴らしい学びと関係がうまれたと。
ＣＡさんにとっても、ルー君は血は繋がらなくても大切な息子と呼べる存在だそうです。その後多くの国からの留学生を受け入れたそうです。「みなさんも、ホストファミリーになってみては！」と呼びかけました。
国際交流も異文化理解も、自分が今国境を越えなくても学びの機会はある。
そう、国際色豊かなメンバーが集う、このクラブのなかにも！
② MZ さん「Time is....時というものは」
“Time is money”. “Time flies so fast”. Time is something valuable in our lives.
When he was younger, he tended to work overtime, frequently until midnight!!
He couldn't manage and wondered, “Should I save my sleeping time and adjust free time?”
Scott, his colleague overseas, advised him not to work overtime, saying “Work is just work. Don’t miss your time with family and friends.”
™.MZ changed his mind and attitude toward work and life.
Now he values his private time and enjoys his life much better.
He knows how precious time is and the importance of making good use of time upon his will.
His words and voice sounded gently and powerfully with confidence. He retrieved/ got back his time with his beloved ones and for something important.
「時は金なり」「光陰矢の如し（＝月日が過ぎるのは飛ぶ矢のように早い）」
様々な格言で出てくる「時」というもの。貯金が趣味のMZさんは時間とお金を比較しながら、人生における大切なものとして思索を深めていきます。
「時間がない！もっと時間が必要だ！」と思うとき、どうすればよいのだろうか。睡眠時間や自由・余暇の時間を減らす？
深夜まで続く残業や終わりの見えない業務に自分の時間を見失っていたMZさんは、海外の同僚から「仕事は仕事」と定時で割り切り、プライベートをきちんと大切にすることを諭されました。そこでハッと目が覚め、人生観が変わったといいます。
家族や愛する人と過ごす時間、好きなことをすること。いい時間の使い方をすることで人生はより楽しく豊かに過ごせる。大切なものを大切にすることを知った彼の笑顔と声は優しく、充実感に満ちていました。
③ OS さん「Best Timing to travelーいざ！旅にでるとき」
™.OS went to Europe with his family. Travel to trace light and dark, beautiful and breathtakingly cruel history.
He went to Vienna/ Austria, the world’s capital of music. He visited Schonbrunn palace and enjoyed the dinner show, which was performed by people in historical attire in Mozart’s era.
The next destination was Auschwitz/ Poland. He encountered a negative legacy with his own eyes. At the gate of Birkenau concentration camp, a signboard said, “If you work, you can be free.” He witnessed a pile of shaved hair and shoes of prisoners, a gas chamber…. He smelled the scent of people of 80 years ago.
Something bumped into him. He was so shocked to know how cruel people could be.
The commanders of genocide by Nazis insisted that they just obeyed the order.
With many photo slides and sensational and powerful storytelling, ™.OS took us to the dynamic historical tour in 7 minutes and 37 seconds. (= Overtime by 7 seconds!!😢)
OSさんは家族と欧州旅行に行きました。ヨーロッパの光と影の歴史をたどる対照的な旅。
旅の前半はオーストリアのウィーン「音楽の都」です。世界遺産として有名で美しい「シェーンブルン宮殿」を訪れたり、当地の音楽家モーツアルトの時代の宮廷衣装で催されるオペラのディナーショーに行ったり、華やかで優雅な観光です。
次の行き先はポーランド。世界史における負の遺産「アウシュビッツ」を訪ねました。
強制労働とガス室、囚人として髪を剃られ丸坊主にされた人々の遺髪や、故人の靴の山。
「80年前に生き死んでいった人々の匂い」を直に感じ、強い衝撃を受けたと言います。
殺戮の指令を出したのは血が通っているはずの人間。狂気の時代に心をなくして命令に従うとき、人はいかに無情に残酷になれるのか。そうした人間の闇をもえぐる旅路でした。
たくさんの写真とともに肉迫する臨場感、ときにコミカルに、そしてシリアスに、制限時間＋７秒間（オーバータイム、惜しい！）旅の醍醐味を語り続けたOSさんでした。
＜Speech Evaluation Session/ 論評スピーチ＞
Evaluators deliver their speeches to encourage the prepared speakers by appreciating their efforts and good points. They also give them suggestions to improve their speeches and delivery styles.
Sincere words and messages, clear pronunciation and good visual aids are essential.
Beautiful smiles, lively body language, and effective hand gestures are great assets to speakers to appeal to their audience as well.
総合論評者のリードのもと、各論評者は担当のスピーチのどこが素晴らしかったか、どんな工夫や表現に魅力を感じたか、いい点や各スピーカーの強みを捉えて伝えました。
次に、どのような点に留意し、デリバリーするとよりよいスピーチになるか、改善点を提案しました。
メッセージやそれを伝える言葉や写真に加えて、いきいきした表情や笑顔、ハンドジェスチャーは聴衆をひきつける大きな要素です。

General Evaluator ™.IM gave us constructive feedback and advised the new members to make good use of the “basic format” of evaluation. Suggesting 2-4 good points and 1-2 improvement point(s).
She is a gentle and wonderful guide who understands members’ efforts and challenges.

論評をする際のフォーマットについて言及し、上手に枠組みをいかせていた人の論評スピーチを例にコツを説明。みんなの努力を優しく肯定しながら、新しいメンバーの育成につながる教育のセッションとなりました。

役割の説明をきちんと準備してみんなの前で話し、任務を正確に確実に任務を遂行してミーティングを支えてくれました。
新しいメンバーも回を重ねるほどに堂々と落ち着いた様子で、心強いものだと嬉しくなります。

Hello!! I’m Yukiko.
My son made a “dreamcatcher”. It comes from Native Americans’ tradition.
They string it from the ceiling over kids’ beds.
It takes away bad dreams with its web and carries only good dreams to sleepers.
Wishing your dreams come true✨
No matter how small or big, it’s wonderful to have dreams and hopes in our daily life especially if you/we are grownups. They must enrich your days ahead.
Let’s climb every mountain and embrace our dreams.
夏休み中の息子が先日「ドリームキャッチャー」を作ってきました。
黄色の羽と網のビーズがお気に入り😊❤️
北米のネイティブアメリカンの伝統・風習、子供たちの寝床の上に下げる魔除けのお守りらしい。
『良い夢は網目の中央にある穴を通って眠っている人に運ばれ、悪夢は網目に引っかかって夜明けと共に消え去る』のだとか！
いい夢をドンドン・ガンガン、キャッチしてくれるものだと思っていました（私仕様）！
ちゃんと取捨選択してくれるありがたいシステム。笑。
大人になると、やるべきことややったほうがいいことに追われがちですが、
今とこれからの「夢」をワクワク語れる大人でありたいと思った例会と息子の作品でした。
みなさんの夢が実現しますように☆彡小さいことでも幸せをもたらすなら大切な夢です。
