＜ Hoping for autumn breeze / はじめに＞
Hello, everyone!!
It’s still so hot. Like melting down like ice on the ground when we walk outside.
We held our hot meeting on Aug.26th.
Let’s take a look back over a beautiful summer day, hoping for crisp air!!
残暑と肌を焼く日差しのもと会場にむかった我々。この夏はいつまで…と思いつつ、せめて心は秋を先取りしたい今日この頃。
朝夕の少しだけ涼しくなった空気のなかに小さい秋の訪れを探しつつ、さあ！前回の熱いミーティングをレポートします♪
＜TMOD/ 司会挨拶＞
The host of the meeting was ™.OS.
We started our energetic meeting with his big voice. “I forget everything!!!!” (What!?)
He introduced the meeting theme there, not beforehand of the meeting, “Heat spell”, a period of time continuing hot weather.
That’s OK!! No problem!! Let’s forget the heat spell outside and enjoy our speeches.
今回の司会は OS さん。今回のミーティングのお題は「暑さの続く期間」という意味で、今でいうと「残暑」と言い換えることができましょうか。
大きなはっきりした声で「すみません、みなさん！私はみ～んな忘れてしまうんです！」
準備を忘れて、当日の進行表は当日朝＆ミーティングテーマは現地発表！スーパーインテリなのに、わすれんぼうのOSさん。このギャップがちょっとお茶目なトーストマニアです。
でも大丈夫！外の暑さを忘れるように、元気にミーティングは始まりました。
＜Table Topics Session / 即興スピーチ＞
At the Table Topics Session, we develop our impromptu speech skills.
Table Topics Master was ™.TM. He gave us questions based on “Time”.
“What timezone of the day do you like the most?” “What day of the week/ month/ season do you like the most?” These questions withdrew the descriptions of scenery of the speakers’ daily life and love for their family and hobbies. We spend time on something valuable for us.
即興スピーチの司会はTMさん。「時」という普遍的なテーマから問いかけました。
回答者はその場で大切にしている日常や夏の思い出、好きな季節や場所などを語りました。日々の暮らしの描写から、その人柄が垣間見えるほのぼのエピソードの数々。時の使い方はその人を表すのだと思える、シンプルにして良問に導かれたセッションでした。
<Prepared Speech Session/ 準備スピーチ>
① OSさん「Visit Auschwitzーアウシュビッツを訪れて」
™. OS overwrote his previous speech and focused more on the travel to Auschwitz/Poland.
With many photo slides, he told us a heartbreakingly cruel history.
How were the millions of Jews taken to the concentration camp(s), sorted life or death?
Men worked terribly hard without food and became thin like skeletons. Girls were used for testing new drugs and poison like animal testing. Many were killed at an infamous shooting wall and in gas chambers.
How cruel people could be? Didn’t the commanders of Nazi have a human heart and mind?
A commander of status insisted that he just obeyed the order and had no need to take responsibility. “Hannah Arendt”, German Jews philosopher concluded the main factor of the crime was “Banality”. The Nazis could be bloody devils because they didn’t think by themselves.
™.OS emphasized that we should keep thinking and we need to speak up for peace.
前回、ご家族との欧州旅行を題材にスピーチをされたOSさん。２回連続での登板。
今回はアウシュビッツ訪問にテーマを絞り、人類史の影に焦点を当て、掘り下げた内容で挑みました。
窓のない木造の列車で強制収容所に送り込まれたユダヤ人。何百万人もの人が「囚人」としてどのように扱われたのか、淡々とした口調で史実に切り込んでいきます。女・子供/ 男。誰を生かし、誰を即抹殺するのか。鉄条網/有刺鉄線で囲まれたその場所で、命の選別が無機質にされていきました。
強制労働に従事し骨と皮に痩せこけた男たち。ある少女たちは動物実験で使い捨てられる動物のように薬剤の人体実験台になり死んでいきました。壁の前で射殺され、ガス室で失われた幾多の命がありました。人間はどこまで残虐になれるのだろうか。
戦後、あるナチスの司令官は「軍の命令に従っただけで自分に責任はない」と主張。「ハンナ・アーレント」というドイツ系ユダヤ人の女性哲学者は「思考しない」ことが犯罪の要因としたことを紹介し、OSさんは「我々は自分の頭で考え続け、声を上げ続けねばならない」と説きました。
スピーチの中で繰り返された「殺された」という表現。あまりに頻出するため、その衝撃が徐々に薄れていきました。きっと戦時下、人が亡くなることが当たり前になるかのように。80年前の狂気と悲劇を聞きながら、今この瞬間、ウクライナやロシアをはじめ、多くの戦地で奪い奪われ失われている命を思わずにいられませんでした。
② SH さん「The value of Women’s Unpaid Household Work and Its Economic Impact ー女性の無償家事労働の価値とその経済的影響について」
“10.8 $ Trillion”. This is the figure calculated by ILO( International Labor Organization), which shows the amount of work that women actually do in the household and do not get paid in the world.
A colleague of ™.SH said to him, “My wife doesn’t work. She does only her duty.”
He was so shocked to hear that. Inequality existed there. There was little respect and appreciation.
He started thinking about how to compensate women for their dedication (unpaid labor) to the household, society and our economy? How much, who, why and how to? …
He suggested many ideas but it is not easy to find the decisive (*WOD) answers. However he concluded his idea, “We need to build a society where both men and women spend equal time on housework.”
His speech gave us a chance to rethink our own perception of gender roles. We tend to take it for granted what we have seen and how we have been treated. We should open our eyes and act for our future, promising true equality. ™.SH could be our polarstar which guides us to the new world.
“10.8 $ Trillion” (=10.8兆ドル）この数字は何を示しているのでしょうか。
ILO（国際労働機関）の試算による「全世界における女性の無報酬家事労働の貨幣価値」！
職場の同僚（男）が、その妻（専業主婦）が行う家事をあたりまえで無価値のように言うのを聞いてショックを受けた™.SH。「うちの女房、働いてないんですよ」
男女で家庭内の家事労働に割く時間の不均衡・不公平。世の中があまり顧みることがない、女性による家事労働。まちがいなく日々の暮らしや社会経済を支えているという認識のもと、その価値と経済的影響について思索していきます。
①貨幣があらゆるものの価値を決めていく資本主義社会において、女性の家事労働をまっとうな価値として補償・還元するには、どうすればいいのか→第三者に家事を委託した場合にかかる金額を算出して、その価値を貨幣に換算する。
②誰がどのように女性にそれを還元していくのか。税金を財源にするか、サービスを受けられるクーポンを発行するか、家庭内拠出か、家庭内のワークシェアリングで差を軽減するのか。。。
決定的な解決策を見出すのは難しいものの、素晴らしい問題提起でした。
無意識に刷り込まれた性差による役割分担を「当然」とし、こなすことが美徳で模範と思っていないか。格差をはなから諦めてはいないか。男女ともに自らの認識が問われる。これが男性の視点と口から述べられたことがとりわけ意義深く感じました。
③ KR さん「What’s ESPWs?ーESPWｓって知ってる？」
™.KR delivered a speech and conducted an effective question-and- answer session.
She introduced/explained the online system to prepare for the meetings, called “Easy Speak” and online educational program called “Pathways”.
The audience understood the differences between the two and got some tips on how to use them effectively.
™. KR was very good at dealing with the impromptu questions. A member asked her.
“How to restore the evaluation sheets from my evaluators on the Pathway’s site?”
She demonstrated it with her computer and the audience found how to do it.
Both new and existing members were really satisfied.
Technology and the skill of presentation. Those are great assets to be a versatile public speaker.
KRさんは、「スピーチを行い、聴衆と共にそのテーマに関する質疑応答（Q＆A）を行い議論を深める」というプロジェクトに挑戦しました。
彼女は現在、クラブの教育担当チームの一員として学びのサポートに寄与しています。
①Easy Speakという出席や役割を分担するための仕組み、②Pathwaysというスピーチの学習プログラム、これら二つのオンラインシステム・教材を使ってできること、いかに有効利用するかのヒントや裏技を教えてくれました。
新人にとってもベテランにとっても有益なセッションでした。「受け取った論評シートをプログラムのウェブサイトのどこに保管するとよいでしょう？」などその場で出される質問に対して即興でパソコンの使い方を見せる、対応するスキルと知識に感心！さらなるこうした機会の提供を求める声が上がりました。
テクノロジーと話術の融合。より広範な聴衆に語りかける術として、パブリックスピーチのスタイルの一つを見せてくれました。
＜Speech Evaluation Session/ 論評スピーチ＞
Evaluators deliver their speeches to encourage the prepared speakers by appreciating their efforts and good points. They also give them suggestions to improve their speeches and delivery styles.
™.KM suggested that the speaker(s) should focus and write on “how you felt there (at the travel destination)”. Explaining and introducing historical facts would be good but speakers’ own emotion based on his/her experiences standing “there” make their speech more special and convincing. It would help the audience “imagine”.
Her comment was very meaningful and professional.
総合論評者のリードのもと、各論評者は担当のスピーチのどこが素晴らしかったか、どんな工夫や表現に魅力を感じたか、いい点や各スピーカーの強みを捉えて伝えました。
次に、どのような点に留意し、デリバリーするとよりよいスピーチになるか、改善点を提案しました。
今回論評初挑戦のKMさんより、旅や現地リポートをスピーチにする際、「説明や史実にとどまらず、その場を実際に訪ねたからこそ感じたものを書くといい」というフィードバックがありました。そのリアルな感情が聴衆に「想像する」ことを促すとも。
「あなたの心の声」を書くということ。容易ではない、大切で意味深いアドバイスでした。

Your explanations were clear, concise and wonderfully delivered.
™.MR served as a Timer for the first time. Counting a designated time for speakers. It seems simple and easy but it’s not easy. If one listens to the speeches with big ears, he/she could miss the timing signal. If one gazes at the stopwatch, it’s hard to focus on the speech contents.
All role takers’ dedication is valuable and precious. Thank you for your effort and service.
役割の説明をきちんと準備してみんなの前で話し、任務を正確に確実に任務を遂行してミーティングを支えてくれました。
初タイマーに挑戦のＭＲさん。この仕事、ストップウォッチを見ていると、スピーチが頭に入りにくく、スピーチを熱心に聞いていると時間の経過を表す旗色を変え忘れやすい。
そして途中旗をおろしてもいけない！地味に大変！徐々に慣れていけますように♪
ＫＷさんは、自作の集計表に一つずつ正の字を書きながら投票結果を集計してくれます。
信頼のおける仕事ぶり、素晴らしいです。
大ベテランのＩＭさん。優しく包み込むような笑顔で、より聞きやすくわかりやすい発音にするために、単語のアクセントに留意して話すことをアドバイスしてくれました。

I recently bought a set of 80 colored pens and a puzzle of multiplication.
I really love colors, especially a broad palette of beautiful colors.
My son likes numbers. Cheerful colors make it more fun.
“Find the blocks!! The answer is 36!!” “4×9, 9×4 and…….6×6!!!!!”
After the heat spell is over, autumn is coming. Apple, grapes, peels and persimmons.
A beautiful season of fruits and harvest. I hope you will enjoy them with your eyes and for months. They must be tasty and nourishing for your mind too.
近頃私が買ったもの。80色のカラーペンとポップな色の掛算ブロック。
何を描くというわけでもなくて、色が好き。
小学生の息子が九九に親近感を覚えるために、どんなことをしたら楽しかろう。
数字のフラッシュカードもいいけれど、視覚から入るのもよいのではないか。
掛算ブロックで同じ解になるものを当てるゲームをしています。
毎日をちょっとカラフルに。感情に言葉と色を。
これからむかう秋は色彩豊かで美味しい食べものが増えていきますね！
りんご・ぶどう・梨・柿！食卓や景色に好きな色を見つけましょう♪♪
