表現上の注意
改善提案の良し悪しは、Speakerに「その提案を受け入れてみたい」と思ってもらえるかどうかで決まります。下記のように、具体性のない指摘や批判的な表現は避けましょう。- Gestures were poor. ←poorという否定的な言葉で批判的かつ失礼な感じ
- Gestures were limited in his/her speech. ←批判的な感じはしないが、具体的な提案がほしい
- Gestures were limited in his/her speech because the speaker gripped the lectern. ←指摘は具体的だが、この後に提案がほしい
英語スピーチでは、I-message（アイ・メッセージ）、つまり自分がどう考え、自分ならどうするかを伝えることが重要です。
- Do not stand still. You should gesture more. ←上から目線
- Generally, it is said that non-verbal expressions like gestures are effective. ←一般論
- For example, if you had gestured like this, I could easily visualize it.
- If it was me, I would gesture like this so the audience could easily visualize it.
- If I were you, I would gesture like this so the audience could easily visualize it.
