Hello, everyone!! A happy new year!!
The contest season in 2024 has kicked off!!
We held the first meeting on January 13th. It was our Inhouse International contest. The winner(s) will advance to the next step of official contests of Toastmasters International.

始まりました!! 2024年!! 今年もよろしくお願いいたします☆彡
今年度最初の例会はクラブ内コンテスト。世界大会につながるトーストマスターズの正式コンテストの出発点です。
どんなスピーチがなされるのか。毎年わくわくするイベントです。私たちの代表を決める！
出場する人にも聴く人にも特別な一日。さあ！いよいよスタートです。
A snapshot before the contest. Comfortable silence with excitement and expectation.
始まる前の風景。今回は私たちのメイン会場の中区民センターで開催することができました。いつもよりも少しだけおしゃべりが少ない、心地よい、ほんのり緊張と期待の空気感。
＜Contest Chair/ コンテスト委員長挨拶＞
Our Contest Chair was ™.IM, who has a gentle and heartwarming smile.
She mentioned the grief of the Noto Peninsula Earthquake and the accident of aircrafts.
She reminded us of how blessed we were to get together and hold this event as usual. With the feeling of appreciation, we started our contest.
She also hosted the feedback session after the contest. In a friendly and sincere atmosphere, many members sent honest and constructive feedback to the speakers.
包み込むような優しい笑顔のコンテスト委員長/司会者のIMさん。
新年を迎えると同時に起きた能登半島の震災や飛行機事故の犠牲者を悼み、こうして仲間が集い、このコンテストを開催できたことへの感謝を述べて、コンテストは始まりました。
毎年催している大切な行事。今年もその灯を灯すことができたことに喜びを感じます。
IMさんはコンテスト後に開かれたフィードバックセッションの司会も務め、そのあたたかなまなざしと声掛けによって、代表に決まったスピーカーに多くの激励と提案が会員から送られました。その熱量と盛りあがりに司会者の力あり！と感じました。
＜Chief Judge/ 審査委員長＞
The Chief Judge was ™.KR. She organized the team of contest officials and supported us.
She was a leader of anonymous judges.
審査委員長のKRさん。コンテスト委員長と共に、このイベントのサポーターを組織し、牽引し、準備を進めてくれました。審査委員のリーダーでもあります。穏やかな人柄と安心確実な実行力を持つ彼女は、みんなの心の拠りどころであり、まさに縁の下の力持ち。
＜Contest Speech＞
Do you want to know what the speakers talked about in their speeches?! Yes!? Raise your hands!!
Booooo!!!!! It’s CONFIDENTIAL!!!!! (It’s so hard to zip my mouth and to stop my fingers not to type the details…) I write only some teasers. We enjoyed speeches very much!!
Speaker A faced a kind of emotions that he has had for a long long time since he was a little boy. The relationship with someone. He had it in his mind but never told. Now, he opened his mouth for the first time. What does this change mean to him? The audience couldn’t help but get interested in it.
Speaker B traced his business life. After some hardship and struggle, his perspective toward himself clearly changed. What was the cause of his pain and self-development!? We have it too in our lives. He gave us a chance to think about how to deal with it by ourselves.
The speakers showcased their real lives. Their speech crafting must be in the process. We are with you and we are your supporters!! Let’s enjoy the upcoming contests!!

本当はどんなメンバーが出場し、どんな話をどんな風に語ったのか、一から十まで書きたいけれど・・・まだコンテストは続くから、ここでは詳細は内緒!!!!
スピーカーAさん、人生を振り返ると、ある人との思い出、幼少期から抱えていた感情、大人になるまで言えなかった気づかなかった想いがあった。ひょんなことから初めて言葉にしたことで、どんな変化がもたらされたのだろう。現在進行形のその話に、人としての興味や共感を抱かずにはいられませんでした。
スピーカーBさん。感情の二面性。生きること、話すこと、仕事をすること、そこにある自分への信頼と自信が変わっていく様を、これまでの仕事人生を辿りながら描いていく等身大のストーリー。日常生活できりはなせない「それ」との彼流つきあいかたとは。
生き様を落とし込んだスピーチが披露されました。まだきっと未完成。でもだからこそ特別。これから進むコンテストの歩みのなかで、スピーカーが悩みもがきながらこの原石を磨いていく過程をクラブのメンバーは見守り、声援を送りながらともに育てていくことになります。
＜Interview Session / インタビュー＞
™.OT interviewed the speakers. With many insightful questions, he dug into the background of the speeches and the intentions of the speakers. Those questions helped the listeners to understand the speeches more clearly and deeply and they would also help the speakers to improve their speeches for the next step.
インタビューを行ったＯＴさん。スピーチを聴き、そのメッセージや背景に切り込みながら、深堀りしていきます。もっと聞きたかったこと、少しわからなかったこと、スピーカー自身がもっと煮詰めていきたいだろうポイントを照射した質問で、話者と聴衆を繋ぎました。

Minato-Mirai Toastmasters Club has a rich variety of members with different nationalities, age groups, professions, hobbies and so on.
We enjoy learning public speech, presentation and leadership together.
We hold our meetings 14:00-16:00 on 2nd/4th Saturdays every month.

横浜市のみなとみらい、関内、桜木町周辺で活動しているみなとみらいトーストマスターズクラブは英語スピーチを楽しく練習し、話し方、プレゼンテーション、リーダーシップを学ぶことができる場です。

＜ Our club is our home / あとがき＞
Hi, I’m Yukiko. How have you been? After the new year’s holidays, we came back to our normal and ordinary life. I survived and returned from the hardest working days!! Lol!!
I feel so happy to see the members/ friends smiling and talking energetically. We exchange our energy and comfort. Our club is our home.
After the contest and the feedback session, we held a short workshop. We shared the information about a professional storyteller. She is great at describing the emotions and scenery with her voice. We can learn a lot by learning storytelling, “Roudoku/ reading aloud” to be better public speakers.
In 2024, we will enjoy a lot and learn a lot!! Let’s go, fellow Toastmasters!!
とうとう年末年始の繁忙期が終わりました。どうにか平和な日常に無事生還。
新年、大好きな仲間とまたこうして集い、笑顔を見て、その声・言葉を聴くことの幸せ。
ほっとしたひととき、喜怒哀楽のエネルギーを昇華する場でもある、私たちのホーム。
今年もそうしたなんでもない愛おしい日々をみんなで積み重ねていくことができますように☆彡
コンテストのあとに、朗読家の紹介のセッションの場を持ちました。
朗読という、声で心や情景を描写し、、物語る力をスピーチの力に！楽しいだけでは終わらない、我々のたゆむことなき成長の糧として、新しい学びもドンドン取り入れ、共有していければと思います。みんなでいい年にしましょう！おー☆彡
