1月11日（土）晴天。小春を予感させる雰囲気の中、
みなとみらいトーストマスターズクラブは、クラブ内スピーチコンテストを実施しました。また、本日は新年最初の例会でもありました。
Saturday 11th January Sat. fine weather. In the atmosphere that foretells Koharu, we held an in-club speech contest. It was also the first meeting of the New Year today.
コンテストスピーチの口火を切ったのはNkさんです。豊富な経験の中から人の信頼にまつわるエピソードをいくつかを披露してくださいました。結構さらっと言ってましたが、実はすごい体験を語ってくださいました。Nkさんの英語スピーチスタイル、ギミックは相変わらずレベルが高いです。
Firstly, TM Nk started his contest speech. He shared a few episodes regarding human trust from his wealth of experience. He said his experience frankly, but contents were quite precious. His speech style and gimmick level were always so high.
次にMyさん。実はPathwaysのアイスブレークスピーチでした。Myさんは、料理をテーマに、料理への覚醒、家族との思い出、そして食べることへの熱い思いを語ってくれました。その非常に柔らかい口調からは人柄の良さが伺えます。なかでも、英語スピーチと料理の共通性を示す考えに思わず共感しました。
The second speaker was TM My. It was an ice breaker speech from Pathways. On the theme of cooking, he talked about spiritual awakening to cooking, memories with the family, and passion for eating. His very soft voice tone said his gentle personality. Above all, I sympathized with the idea of something in common between speech and cooking.
次にKrさん。いきなり某アニメの必殺技（ハワイの大王じゃないですよ）を繰り出し、聴衆の意識を掻っ攫いました（当クラブの自由な雰囲気が解放された瞬間でした）。Krさんのヒーロー像、そして日常に潜む活躍劇にスポットを当ててユニークな考えを独白していただきました。おもわず熱くなったのは筆者だけではないはず。
Next, TM Kr, third speaker. Suddenly, he rolled out a special technique (not the king of Hawaii) from the comics and took the audience's consciousness. It was the moment when the free atmosphere of our club was released. He confessed his hero image and unique idea and played the episode that is lurking in everyday life. It's not just myself that got enthusiastic.
久しぶりの英語スピーチになるUcさん、昨年のニュースから着想を得たというネタ・疑問を披露。独自の視点で人類、そして生命の起源に迫るという少し不思議な内容でした。SFネタという点を割り引いても、最後までワクワクさせる巧みな話術、話の組み立て方に脱帽です。
TM Uc, who had not delivered the speech in a while, shows off his inspiration from last year's news. It was a little mysterious story to approach human being and the origin of life from a unique perspective. Although it was a fictional story, it was a skilful way of delivering that excited us until the end. Hats off!
トリを務めたのはTrさん、少年時代、おバカな出会いをきっかけとした珍妙な異文化交流のエピソードを聞かせていただきました。やはり「おバカ」は世界共通だということを改めて感じました。心を通わせるのに、時として言葉は不要ということですね。
TM Tr who delivered the speech, at last, told us about an unusual cross-cultural exchange episode triggered by a funny encounter in childhood. I felt again that stupidity is a common factor to fascinating us in the world. Sometimes we don't have to use the English to get along with.
休憩をはさんで、日本語スピーチコンテストを実施し、コンテスタントのスピーチから、思い切ってクラブの門をたたいた当時を思い出しました。
After the break, a Japanese speech contest was held, and from the contestant speech, I remembered the time when I dared to hit the club gate.
あとがき
1月11日はみなとみらいで出初式が催されるそうです。見に行かなくては。あと、昨年受験したTOEICで自己ベストを更新しました！これもトーストマスターズクラブのおかげだと思います。次はTOEIC800を目指して頑張るぞ(レポーター：Nk。TM歴10カ月)

It seemed that the first ceremony was held last week at Minatomirai. Also, I got the best TOEIC score last year! It is thanks to the Toastmasters Club. Next, I'll do my best for TOEIC800 (Reporter: Nk, TM history 10 months)
