Word of the Day【WOD】: Progress
<Opening/初めに>
The Minato Mirai Toastmasters meeting on December 27, our final meeting of the year, truly reflected the theme “Looking Back with Gratitude.”
With “progress” as the Word of the Day, members celebrated their growth throughout the year — not only in their speeches, but also in spirit.
2025年最後の例会となった12月27日のみなとみらいトーストマスターズ例会は、Meeting Theme「Looking Back with Gratitude（感謝とともに振り返る）」にふさわしく、温かさと笑顔に包まれた時間となりました。
Word of the Day は “progress”。一年の歩みを前向きに捉えながら、言葉でも気持ちでも成長を共有する例会となりました。
TM AD served as the Toastmaster of the Day, guiding the meeting with warmth and confidence, creating a comfortable and reflective atmosphere befitting the year’s closing session.
この日のTMODはTM AD。落ち着いた進行と柔らかな語り口で、今年を締めくくる例会を見事にリードしてくれました。
During the Table Topics Session, TM NK introduced questions centered on reflecting upon the past year. Members shared personal stories of learning, achievement, and discovery, filling the room with laughter, gratitude, and connection.
Table Topics Session では、TM NKが「一年を振り返る質問」をテーマにしたお題を用意。メンバー一人ひとりが、それぞれの2025年の学びや喜びを即興で語り、会場には共感と笑いが広がりました。
<Prepared speech session>
The first speaker, TM OS, delivered “Wonderful Sports of Rowing.”
Through a creative Question-and-Answer style presentation, he explored the challenges and excitement of rowing. The interactive format energized the audience and turned the speech into a lively and engaging experience.
最初のスピーカーは TM OS による “Wonderful Sports of Rowing”。
ボート競技の難しさと奥深さ、そして楽しさを、なんと Q&A形式という挑戦的なスピーチスタイルで披露。観客との掛け合いが生まれ、会場は活気に満ちたダイナミックなセッションとなりました。
The second speaker, TM MZ, presented “Bearxpo2025.”
By cleverly connecting two seemingly unrelated topics — the Osaka Expo and bear incidents — he drew meaningful insights relevant to Toastmasters. The speech blended humor and originality, delighting and surprising the audience.
2番目のスピーカー、TM MZ のスピーチは “Bearxpo2025”。
大阪万博と熊のニュースという、一見まったく異なる出来事を巧みに結びつけ、そこから Toastmastersに活かせる洞察を導き出すユーモラスなスピーチでした。予想外の展開に、会場からは驚きと感嘆の声があがりました。
The third speaker, TM OT, delivered “Fried Potato Shortage.”
Assuming the role of a corporate leader responding to a fictional potato shortage crisis, he presented a communications strategy with intensity and urgency. His realistic delivery created a dramatic sense of tension, making the speech both entertaining and thought-provoking.
3番目のスピーカーは TM OT による “Fried Potato Shortage”。
架空の企業を舞台にした「ポテト不足危機」に対する広報戦略を、責任者になりきって熱のこもったテンポで語る姿は、まるで本当に危機会議が開かれているかのよう。スピーチは臨場感にあふれ、ハラハラしつつも学びの多い内容となりました。
It was a meaningful and uplifting final meeting of 2025 — filled with gratitude, progress, and smiles.
We look forward to continuing our journey of learning and growth together in the coming year.
2025年の締めくくりにふさわしい、感謝・成長・笑顔の詰まった例会。
来年も、私たちは一歩ずつ “progress” を重ねながら、学び合い、支え合い、共に成長していきます。

After the meeting, several members gathered for a cozy Year-End Party.
In a relaxed atmosphere — away from the formal structure of speeches — we shared our highlights of the year, memorable moments, and goals for the coming one. Laughter and warm conversations filled the table, and it became a heartwarming time that strengthened our sense of connection as fellow members.
In addition, some members shared stories and music performances, giving us a wonderful opportunity to discover new sides of one another. It was a memorable gathering that deepened our bond as a club.
例会終了後は、有志メンバーでささやかな Year-End Party（忘年会） を開催しました。
スピーチとは少し離れ、リラックスした雰囲気の中で、今年のハイライトや思い出、そして来年の目標について語り合いました。テーブルには笑顔と笑い声が溢れ、仲間としてのつながりを改めて感じる、心温まるひとときとなりました。
さらに、メンバーそれぞれが エピソードや演奏 を披露し、互いの新たな一面を知る貴重な機会にもなりました。クラブとしての絆が一段と深まった、印象的な締めくくりとなりました。

Minato-Mirai Toastmasters Club has a rich variety of members with different nationalities, age groups, professions, hobbies and so on.
We enjoy learning public speech, presentation and leadership together.
We hold our meetings 14:00-16:00 on 2nd/4th Saturdays every month.
