Our meeting theme this time was “The Rainy Season.” While the sound of rain often brings quiet reflection, it also nourishes the world around us. In the same way, this meeting was filled with inspiring speeches and warm exchanges that refreshed our spirits, just like a gentle shower. Let us share some of those uplifting moments with you in this blog post.

今回のミーティングテーマは「The Rainy Season（梅雨）」でした。雨音に包まれるこの季節、どこか静かで内省的な気分になる方も多いのではないでしょうか。しかし、雨が育む恵みのように、この日の例会も参加者の心を豊かに潤すようなスピーチと交流にあふれていました。そんな心温まるひとときを、今回のブログでお届けします。

TM SG: “Don’t you want to be a mentor too?”

TM SG gave an inspiring speech on the value of mentoring within Toastmasters. Drawing from their own experience and knowledge gained through “Mentoring 101,” TM SG highlighted what it truly means to support others. Phrases like “Who you are” and “Based on trust” may sound simple, but through TM SG’s thoughtful delivery, they carried a depth of insight and compassion. The speech served as a reminder that mentoring is not just about giving advice — it’s about building trust, understanding the other person’s journey, and walking alongside them. It made many of us reflect: “Don’t you want to be a mentor too?”

最初のスピーカーはTM SGさん。トーストマスターズでのメンタリングの重要性について熱意を持って語ってくれました。Mentoring 101を学び、実際の生活に活かしている経験から語られる言葉には説得力がありました。「Who you are」「Based on trust」といったシンプルながら深みのある言葉に、メンタリングに必要な姿勢や信頼の大切さが込められており、聴衆の心をしっかりとつかんでいました。

TM TB: "Show them, tell them, have them do it, and then praise them, otherwise, people won't do anything”

TM TB shared his honest struggle with leadership, feeling unsure and discouraged by the lack of positive feedback. But when he shifted from controlling to trusting and supporting his team, things began to change. His story was a moving reminder that real leadership comes not from authority, but from believing in others and helping them grow. His journey of growth resonated with many in the audience.

TM TBさんは、リーダーとしての自信が持てずに悩んでいた自身の体験を語ってくれました。ポジティブなフィードバックが得られず落ち込む中で、メンバーを「管理」するのではなく、「信頼し、支援する」姿勢に切り替えたことで、チームが前向きに動き始めたというエピソードは、まさにリーダーシップの本質を教えてくれるものでした。素直な葛藤と変化のプロセスが聴衆の共感を呼びました。

TM TD: “My Favorite Speeches”

TM TD delivered an inspiring speech titled “My Favorite Speeches,” introducing timeless quotes such as “Giants will be immortal,” “If today were the last day of your life,” and “I came, I saw, I conquered.” She explained how techniques like parallelism give words lasting power. Through her clear examples and thoughtful commentary, we were reminded of how great speeches move people and shape history. It was both an educational and moving experience for the audience.

3人目のスピーカーはTM TDさん。彼女は「My Favorite Speeches」というタイトルで、歴史に残る名スピーチをいくつか紹介してくれました。「巨人軍は永遠に不滅です」「今日が人生最後の日だったら」「来た、見た、勝った」など、誰もが一度は聞いたことのある名言を取り上げながら、それぞれの背景や、言葉の持つ力について語ってくれました。中でも、スピーチに説得力と印象を残す技法として「パラレリズム（反復構造）」の重要性をわかりやすく解説。スピーチをするうえで参考になるだけでなく、聞く側としても深く楽しめる、学びと感動に満ちた発表でした。

This meeting theme was "Bridging Voices."
In a special joint meeting with the Den-en Toshi Toastmasters Club, we experienced an inspiring session that transcended club boundaries. It was a true exchange of voices—where diverse perspectives came together to create connection, learning, and new friendships. Each speech and role was a reminder of the power of communication to bridge differences and unite hearts.

今回のミーティングテーマは「Bridging Voices（声の架け橋）」でした。
私たち、みなとみらいトーストマスターズクラブは、田園都市トーストマスターズクラブとの合同例会を開催し、普段とは一味違う刺激的な時間を過ごしました。クラブの垣根を越えた出会いと学びは、まさに「声と言葉の架け橋」。多様なバックグラウンドを持つ仲間たちが、それぞれの想いを乗せて声を交わしたひとときでした。

<Joke/TIps>
Our joint meeting began with a delightful surprise—TM HR one of the members from Den-en Toshi Toastmasters Club kicked things off with a nostalgic song about Yokohama. The heartfelt performance instantly captured the audience, setting the stage for an engaging session.
Following this musical introduction, the speaker delivered a humorous and insightful message about the importance of “relationship chemistry.” It couldn’t have been more fitting for a joint meeting—highlighting the natural synergy between Den-en Toshi TMC and Minato Mirai TMC. A truly memorable way to celebrate the spirit of "Bridging Voices."

今回の合同例会は、田園都市トーストマスターズクラブのメンバーTM HRによる心温まる Joke/Tips からスタートしました。なんと冒頭、懐かしの横浜ソングを披露するというサプライズ演出！その美しい歌声に、会場の期待は一気に高まりました。
そして、続くスピーチでは「人間関係のケミストリー」の大切さについて、ユーモアを交えながら語ってくれました。まるでこの合同例会のテーマそのものを体現するような内容で、田園都市TMCとみなとみらいTMCの相性の良さを改めて感じる時間となりました。

TM HJ: “Clubs Promotion”

TM HJ began the speech with a simple yet relatable question: "Why did I join Toastmasters?" Sharing personal experiences of learning English under pressure and discovering the relaxed, supportive environment of Toastmasters club, TM HJ delivered a compelling message that strongly encouraged potential new members.

TM HJさんは「なぜ自分がトーストマスターズに入ったのか？」という素朴な疑問からスピーチを開始。英語を使う必要に迫られた経験と、トーストマスターズでのリラックスした学習環境の魅力を語ってくれました。実体験に基づいた、入会希望者への力強いメッセージが印象的でした。

TM JT: "Days Off”

TM JT shared his passion for travel, making time for it despite his busy work life. This time, he took us on a vivid journey to Italy—from the exciting planning phase to the scenic landscapes and vibrant atmosphere of the destination itself. With expressive storytelling, he painted a picture of Italy's beauty, charm, and warmth, making the audience feel as if they were right there with him. His speech was a delightful escape for travel lovers and a reminder of the joy that days off can bring.

TM JTさんは、忙しい仕事の合間を縫って旅を楽しむライフスタイルを披露してくれました。今回はイタリア旅行について、計画段階のワクワク感から実際に訪れた風景まで、臨場感たっぷりに語ってくれました。建物、気候、人々の雰囲気まで、まるでその場にいるかのような描写で、聴衆をイタリア旅行に連れて行ってくれるようなスピーチでした。旅好きにはたまらないひとときとなりました。

TM HR: “Be Brave”

TM KH delivered a heartfelt speech titled “Be Brave,” weaving together the story of his parents’ meeting and his own fulfilling life. The contrast between postwar Japan’s harsh reality and the humorous scene of his parents’ encounter was brilliantly drawn, keeping the audience captivated. With a touch of seriousness and warmth, he conveyed the powerful message that being brave—across generations—can lead to life’s greatest treasures. It was a speech that left a lasting impression on everyone.

TM KHさんは、“Be Brave”をテーマに、ご両親の出会いとご自身の人生を重ねて語ってくれました。戦後の厳しい時代背景と、ユーモアを交えた出会いのエピソードの対比が見事で、聴衆を引き込みました。シリアスさと温かさを併せ持った語り口で、勇気を持って一歩踏み出すことの大切さが心に響くスピーチでした。世代を超えて共感できる素晴らしいメッセージでした。

TM SN: “Where courage is born”

TM SN delivered a heartfelt speech titled “Where courage is born,” sharing a personal story of love and courage with vivid detail and humor. He recounted the moment he finally summoned the courage to approach a woman he admired, only to discover she was already married, which left him feeling disappointed. However, SN’s story didn’t end there—he courageously embraced new love and looked forward to an upcoming date. His honest and powerful narration resonated deeply with the audience, inspiring them to appreciate the importance of courage in pursuing what matters in life.

TM SNさんは、「Where courage is born」というタイトルで、恋愛における勇気の誕生をユーモアと臨場感を交えて語りました。勇気を振り絞って声をかけた女性が既に結婚していた悔しさを率直に表現し、その経験を乗り越えて新たな恋に積極的に挑む姿勢が力強く伝わりました。感情豊かな語り口により、聴衆は大きな共感と感動を覚え、勇気の大切さを改めて感じられるスピーチでした。

This meeting’s theme was “A mother's love across cultures.” No matter where we come from, a mother’s love is a universal bond that transcends borders. Throughout the meeting, our members shared personal stories and reflections, creating a warm and heartfelt atmosphere filled with both laughter and emotion.

今回のミーティングテーマは、「文化を越えた母の愛」。母の存在や愛の形は、国や文化が違ってもどこか共通するものがあります。今回のミーティングでは、メンバーそれぞれが自分の
体験や視点から「母の愛」について語り、笑いや感動があふれる時間となりました。

TM VK: “How I built my Confidence”

TM VK shared his inspiring journey in “How I built my Confidence”. Once overly concerned about others' opinions, he overcame his insecurities through consistent self-training. His message—that confidence comes from within, not from external validation—resonated with many. His positive mindset and dedication motivated the audience to believe in themselves and keep moving forward.

TM VKさんは「自信を持つまでの道のり」を語ってくれました。他人の目を気にしすぎていた過去から、トレーニングを通して自分を磨き、自信をつけた体験は、多くの人が共感できるものでした。他人の評価に振り回されず、自分自身を信じて努力する姿勢は、聴衆に大きな勇気と前向きなエネルギーを与えるスピーチでした。

TM YS: "“Change in frequency to work at office”

TM YS delivered an insightful speech titled “Change in frequency to work at office”, highlighting post-pandemic shifts in work style. Using data to support his points, he addressed both the benefits of remote work and the challenges of reduced in-person interaction. His balanced perspective and forward-looking suggestions offered the audience practical ideas to consider for their own work environments.

TM YSさんは「出社頻度の変化」について、コロナ禍以降の働き方の変化をデータに基づいてわかりやすく伝えてくれました。リモートワークの利点だけでなく、対面での交流の重要性にも触れ、バランスの取れた視点を提示。さらに、今後の働き方への提案もあり、聴衆にとって非常に実践的で考えさせられるスピーチでした。

TM HR: “Cheers to a Healthier Life!”

In TM HR’s speech “Cheers to a Healthier Life!”, he highlighted the suggestion of how modern people, blessed with advanced healthcare, often fall into unhealthy habits. With a mix of seriousness and humor, his message resonated deeply with the audience. The phrase “better late than never” left a lasting impression, reminding us it’s never too late to start living healthier.

TM HRさんのスピーチ「Cheers to a Healthier Life!」では、医療の進歩で健康が当たり前となった現代人が、逆に健康を損ねる生活習慣を身につけてしまっている矛盾を鋭く指摘。真剣なメッセージを時折ジョークを交えて語り、聴衆の心にしっかり届く内容でした。特に「better late than never」の一言が心に響きました。

今回の例会では、TM YSさんの素晴らしいスピーチ "Building Relationships" を特別に聞くことができました。このスピーチは、5月に行われたコンテストで、彼女がみなとみらいTMCの代表として堂々と披露したものです。人と人との関係性を築くことの大切さを、自身の経験を交えて丁寧に語ってくれました。そんな貴重なスピーチをクラブの皆で共有できたことに、改めて感謝したいと思います。TM YSさん、本当にありがとう。

<Opening/初めに>
The theme of this meeting was “To the NEXT stage.” It symbolized the courage and excitement of stepping into new challenges. Each speaker and participant shared their thoughts on their own "next stage," making the session full of positive energy and inspiration.
今回のミーティングテーマは「To the NEXT stage」。新しいチャレンジに向けて、一歩踏み出す勇気や期待感が込められたテーマでした。スピーカーや参加者の皆さんが、それぞれの“次のステージ”について語り、前向きなエネルギーに満ちた例会となりました。

<Joke/tips>
To kick off the meeting, TM HR shared a witty Joke/Tip that helped warm up the room and set a cheerful tone for the session.
The story was about a wealthy-looking foreign gentleman who went to a New York bank to borrow a few hundred dollars. As collateral, he left his Ferrari. A few days later, he returned and repaid the loan with interest. Curious, the banker asked, “Why would someone like you leave a Ferrari for such a small loan?” The gentleman replied, “Where else can you safely park a Ferrari in New York for just a few dollars in interest?” A clever twist that brought a big laugh from the audience!
ミーティングの冒頭では、TM HRさんがユーモアを交えて“Joke/Tips”を披露してくれました。このセッションは、場を和ませ、その日の会を明るくスタートさせる大切な役割を担っています。
今回の話は、ある外国人紳士がニューヨークの銀行に数百ドルを借りに行くという内容。彼はなんとフェラーリを担保に預けました。数日後、利息を含めてきちんと返済しますが、銀行員は疑問に思います。「どうしてこんな少額のためにフェラーリを？」その答えは、「ニューヨークでこれほど安く車を安全に停めておける方法が他にあるかい？」という、思わずうなる機転の利いた一言でした！

The questions were mainly related to golden week(Golden Week vacation is a collection of public holidays on the Japanese calendar).
Each speaker shared unique stories and unexpected answers, filling the room with surprise and excitement.

TM MS: "The real and the immersive: Traveling Egypt twice"
TM MS shared her fascinating experiences of exploring Egypt both in person and through virtual reality. Her vivid descriptions of the immersive VR tour, complete with a guide in traditional attire and a humorous warning not to sit on "invisible chairs," gave the audience a sense of being transported. It was a captivating speech that highlighted the blending of real and virtual travel experiences.
TM MSさんは、実際のエジプト旅行とVRでの仮想旅行という2つの異なる体験を比較しながら語ってくれました。ピラミッドをVRで探検するというユニークな視点は、まるで本当にその場にいるような臨場感を観客にもたらしました。ツアーガイドの「椅子には座らないで！」というユーモラスな注意も印象的で、現実と仮想の境界を考えさせられる興味深いスピーチでした。

TM JA: "Will AI replace my job?"
As AI becomes a hot topic, TM JA candidly shared his concerns about whether his job in the construction industry might be replaced by AI. Rather than dwelling on fear, he offered a hopeful perspective on how AI can be harnessed as a tool for growth. His adaptability and forward-looking attitude inspired the audience in this timely and empowering speech.
AIが話題となる今、建設業界で働くTM JAさんが「AIに仕事を奪われるのでは？」という不安を率直に語ってくれました。ですが、彼はその不安にとどまらず、AIと共に働く未来や活用の可能性についても前向きに提案。変化に適応する力と挑戦する姿勢に、聴衆も多くの刺激を受けた、時代に即した力強いスピーチでした。

TM HR: "Japanese Culture, Karaoke"
TM HR introduced the globally loved Japanese culture of karaoke. Through a mix of humor and insight, the speech explored its history, the joy singing brings, and how “KARAOKE” has become a beloved activity around the world. It was a warm and enlightening talk that made us rediscover the charm of this familiar tradition.
TM HRさんが語ってくれたのは、日本発祥の文化「カラオケ」について。カラオケの歴史や、歌うことで得られる幸福感、さらには世界中で“KARAOKE”として愛されている様子をユーモアを交えて紹介。身近な文化を通して、日本の魅力を再発見させてくれる、親しみと発見にあふれたスピーチでした。

Word of the Day【WOD】：buoyant

<Opening/初めに>
The theme of our meeting this time was “World Expo.” Just like a real world exposition that brings together cultures, technologies, and visions for the future, our Toastmasters meeting turned into a miniature expo of ideas. Each speaker and comment was like a unique pavilion, offering fresh perspectives and vibrant energy to kick off an inspiring session.

今回の例会のテーマは「World Expo」―世界中の技術、文化、そして未来への夢が集う万博のように、私たちのトーストマスターズの集いも、多様な背景を持つメンバーがアイデアや想いを持ち寄る、まさに小さな万博のような時間となりました。それぞれのスピーチやコメントが、まるで各国パビリオンのように色とりどりで、刺激に満ちた例会の幕開けでした。

＜Induction Ceremony/入会式＞
We welcomed a new member today.　TM CH kindly introduced our new member, and everyone is so happy to welcome her. TM OG, our President, gave her the member’s certificate. Welcome, TM CH!

入会式を執り行いました。TM CHさんが、新会員を紹介してくれました。メンバー全員に大歓迎された新会員は、会長から会員証が手渡されます。これから一緒に倉具を盛り上げましょうTM CHさん！！

<joke/tips>

At the beginning of this meeting, TM CT presented Joke & Tips. This session had a crucial role in creating a welcoming atmosphere.
She shared how she once mistook concealer for lipstick and walked into class with ghost-white lips! Her students’ stares made sense only after she checked the mirror. Her ability to laugh at herself brought instant warmth and smiles to the room.

今日のJoke&Tipsは、TM CT。うっかりコンシーラーをリップと間違えて塗ってしまい、真っ白な唇で教室に登場！生徒たちの視線の理由に気づいたのは授業後。そんなハプニングも笑いに変えるTM CTさんのおかげで、会場は一気に和やかなムードに包まれました。

The questions were mainly related to the theme of the World Expo.

Each speaker shared unique stories and unexpected answers, filling the room with surprise and excitement.

万博にちなんだ質問で会場を盛り上が下てくれました、

1.A new human washing machine will be shown at the Expo. If you could use it, what would you want it to wash away?
2.A rock from Mars will also be on display at this Expo. If this Martian rock had special powers, what would you wish for?
3.An iPS heart is displayed. If it had a special effect, what would you hope for?
4.Many people choose not to marry these days. What advice would you give them?

<Prepared speech session>
TM MD: "Play self-governance"

TM MD’s speech “Play self-governance” was a thought-provoking story.
TM MD shared insights from covering a high school baseball team in Kanagawa that played in a national tournament. Despite losing in the first round, the team, guided by the principle of “thinking for yourself,” reflected deeply on their performance. Their self-governance and focus on growth offered an inspiring lesson about learning from setbacks and moving forward.
TM MDさんのスピーチ"Play self-governance"は、示唆に富んだ物語でした。
神奈川の高校野球チームの全国大会出場を取材した経験を語ってくれました。限られた練習時間の中で「自分で考える」姿勢を貫いたチームは、敗退後も原因を探り、次へとつなげようとしていました。その姿に、自律と成長の大切さを教えられ、私たち自身の行動も振り返るきっかけを与えてくれました。

TM YS: "L. M. S."

TM YS’s speech “L. M. S.” was interesting story.
TM YS delivered a Q&A-style session on the newly introduced Learning Management System (L.M.S.) by Toastmasters International. Though familiar, the system’s new features raised many questions. Through clear explanations and thoughtful responses, TM YS helped deepen our understanding. The interactive format made the session both engaging and informative for all attendees.
TM YSさんは、Q&A形式で新たに導入されたL.M.S.（Learning Management System）について紹介してくれました。身近なツールでありながら、実際の操作や活用方法には多くの疑問が寄せられましたが、それに丁寧に応えながら、スピーチを通してL.M.S.への理解を深めてくれました。双方向のやり取りによって、参加者の関心と学びがより深まった時間となりました。

TM TK: "Why does Mt. Fuji looks so beautiful?"

TM TK’s speech was "Why does Mt. Fuji looks so beautiful?".
TM TK delivered a compelling speech exploring the question: “Why does Mt. Fuji look so beautiful?” Rather than relying on impressions, he presented scientific explanations including perspective, distance, and surrounding landscape. His well-researched points made the audience see Mt. Fuji in a new and enlightening way.
TM TKさんは「なぜ富士山は美しく見えるのか？」という素朴な疑問に対し、科学的な根拠を交えて丁寧に解説してくれました。単なる見た目の印象ではなく、角度や距離、周囲の地形などを根拠に語るスピーチは説得力にあふれ、富士山を見る目が変わるような気づきの多い時間となりました。
